Omar has been involved in the Brazilian financial markets for more than 30 years. He has held positions of leadership managing businesses, formulating strategy and and other senior management functions with Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan, ING Barings, Bauhaus, Capitania and Citibank.

Omar was a Managing Director of Global Markets at Deutsche Bank responsible for a team of 10 professionals covering M&A, Trade Finance, Risk Management, Credit Derivatives, Fiscal Planning, Credit and Capital Markets. Omar was responsible for similar duties at Merrill Lynch and ING Barings.

Omar was a Director at Capitania, a large corporate consulting firm focused on risk management, accounting, strategy, local fixed income capital markets and asset management. As a Director in the firm’s Advisory business, Omar was responsible for a team of 4 associates consulting large corporations on risk management, financial control, IFRS implementation, capital markets, M&A, venture capital and organizational restructuring.

Omar advised Aracruz following the significant losses caused by exotic derivatives, which was one of the most significant and well known casualties of the currency crisis that resulted in the sale of the company to Votorantim. Omar advised Aracruz on restructuring and minimizing losses with counterparties and banks, coordination of team preparing management and regulatory reports to CVM’s (Brazil SEC), financial reports (in BR GAAP and US GAAP) and special managerial reports to the Board and Private Equity Investors.

Omar was a Director at Bauhaus Capital Partners, a European Consulting firm, focused on Project Financing and M&A.
Omar received his Bachelors’ Degree in Industrial Engineering at Escola Politécnica da USP, a MBA at Pace University in New York (with a Fulbright and AMCHAM scholarships) and an MSc in Business Administration at Fundação Getúlio Vargas (with a CNPQ scholarship).
